Understand

Is this skin care or a prescribed drug?

What is this product supposed to do? The spa setting does not tell you.

What makes a product a drug?

Drug rules covered products meant to treat a disease or change the way the body works, as of September 26, 2026.

FDA is the short name for the Food and Drug Administration; this agency handles drug review in the U.S.

Do cosmetics need the same approval?

As of September 26, 2026, cosmetics generally did not need FDA approval before sale. Ingredients added to give them color did need that approval.

Ask whether the product is sold only to change appearance or is meant to treat a health problem.

That rule does not turn an injection into skin care just because someone describes its effect as cosmetic.

What rules cover cosmetic medical work?

Peptide names a substance made from a small chain of parts; insulin is an example.

As of October 3, 2026, the Arizona Nursing Board's advice for cosmetic procedures covered training and who oversees the work.

The Nursing Board's cosmetic advice does not itself let a nurse give peptide treatment for health problems or prescribe beyond what the nurse's licence allows.

Ask what the nurse is allowed to do for your health problem, and who will decide whether to prescribe.

What can I ask before choosing?

Ask: Is this a cosmetic product, a medical procedure or a prescribed medicine?

Ask for the responsible person's name and type of licence, plus the product name and its intended purpose.

Ask next What proves this is a real medicine?
Sunlight and a plant cast soft shadows across a bare desert-room counter.
Look past the setting. Ask what the treatment does.
